I know we are all looking for ways to get healthy, stay healthy and give our body the nutrients it needs. These days we hear about super foods everywhere. It seems like they are being pushed and sold like crazy; and often at a price. (A high one at that) But lets keep it real; half of the time the so called healthy items you buy in stores are loaded with a bunch of extra stuff that you don't want/need in your body. Sugar, fillers and preservatives get added to "healthy" foods all the time. Another thing I know is that my fellow boss women (and men) have a million and one things to do. Our time is valuable and taking the time to run to some superfood store; to overpay for "healthy" food with our hard earned money just isn't on the agenda. So I'm about to share a little gem.

Today I am bringing y'all one of my favorite healthy go to add ons. I've been asked about it over and over.

When I initially posted my Wellness Shots on instagram I was asked a ton of questions. So as promised I am going to answer them all for you here. The biggest question I was asked was: "where did you buy those?" Answer: I make them. Now you know your girl LOVES to DIY. It's fun, cheaper, healthier and more convenient.

The Wellness shot on today's "episode" is the Matcha shot! The Matcha shot is one of my absolute favs. It's super easy to make and delicious. I actually have two different recipes to share with you guys. I usually decide which to make based on the flavor I'm in the mood for that week but both are tasty. Before we jump into how to make these wellness wonders; let's get into the ways us boss women can benefit from taking them.

So what is Matcha?

Matcha is a type of green tea. It is made by taking young tea leaves and grinding them into a bright green powder. The powder is then whisked with hot water or other liquid. This is different from regular green tea, where the leaves are infused in water, then removed. Drinking brewed green tea is a bit like boiling spinach, throwing away the spinach and just drinking the water. You will get some of the nutrients, but you’re throwing away the best bit. With matcha, you’re drinking the whole tea leaves.

Matcha leaves are grown on green tea bushes kept under shade. The shade increases the amount of chlorophyll and nutrient content in the leaves. The leaves are picked by hand and the stems and veins are removed. The leaves are traditionally ground by granite stones into a super fine powder.

(Fun Fact: You would have to drink at least 10 cups of regular green tea to match the benefits of 1 cup of Matcha Tea)

1 cup Matcha tea = 10 cups green tea
